Today, I'm still reeling over the unexpected loss of my co-worker. I also received a notification that my workload would be increased to more than twice what is was before. FML
Collection
Fall
Dead leaves, the first cold of the season and an umbrella flipped inside out: fall, the season of grace.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was informed that- despite an already skeletal staff- my supervisor is leaving the company. Tomorrow. FML
Hostile takeover
Today, I was informed that the company I work for has been taken over by the previous company I worked for. I left that company with a burn-out, after years of 60-75 hour weeks, so I'll soon be working for them again in the exact same department I so happily left behind last year. FML
Today, my boss got a promotion and I got laid off. FML
Welcome to the machine
Today, after I spent the last year working overtime to prove myself at my tech job, I got an email saying I was laid off due to “strategic restructuring.” My boss posted a vacation picture right after. FML
Today, I came into work feeling good about myself and my upcoming plans. I left before noon with a box of my belongings and uncertainty about my future, having been suddenly laid off. FML
Today, after three weeks of my boss telling me how much he appreciates my hard work and has submitted my name up for a promotion, he called me into his office to announce I'm being laid off. FML
Are you doing OK?
Today, I got a heads-up that my boss suffered a death in the family, but was coming into work anyway. I thought he'd be depressed, but it seems he deals with grief with anger instead. I found that out when he yelled at me, threatening to rip my spine out my ass over a typo I made in a report. FML
Management 101
Today, I once again got less than 20 hours of work for the entire week. My boss's solution? Double the staff. FML
Keep schtum
Today, I found out I'm pregnant. Last week my coworker, who I sit next to 5 days a week, returned to work after bereavement maternity leave. FML
Today, I had a meeting with my girlfriend, who I live with and work with but on different teams. Both our teams got laid off. FML

If only the double of work brought the double of dough it would be perfect

I don't think OP would consider the situation to be perfect, even if they were paid double. Their coworker did die unexpectedly...

I can see your workload doubling after the death of your co-worker, but you said "more than twice" Did you bury Superman?

Maybe the coworker had more job duties to begin with. Or else OP has to take up the workload of the departed coworker AND pick up the slack from the people that took a few days off to grieve.
cocacola999 27
Or OP is responsible for both picking up shifts and training a new employee.

I can see why you're reeling

Let me guess, and there will be no increase in subsequent pay because of this?

yeah thats when you inform them that you will also me earning twice as much money unless they dont want the work done

Well it's easy for the boss to put the blame on him then since he would be all about the money although his co-worker died. It's a bad situation.

Why is it that seemingly everyone that posts an fml about their co worker gives the impression that there's always just the two of them?
momogal 22
Maybe it was just the two of them in their department. Or it's a small company. That could explain why the loss affected OP so much.

Sorry for your loss op :(

I'm sorry for your loss OP. But don't let your work exploit you! Set a time limit that you'll do the extra work, brush up your resume, and look for another job if they don't start the interviews.
