Today, I got my score back for the monologue I performed. I got points taken off for "seeming nervous." My character was supposed to be nervous. FML
Collection
Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Pure entertainment
Today, I auditioned for a part in a play. I've been practicing for months, and was very excited. After I'd finished singing, the director whispered something to the other judges, and they all laughed. Hard. So much for the lead role. FML
Today, I got up on stage excited to recite a spoken word piece that I worked on and memorized for about 20 hours, neglecting other obligations like studying for an exam the next day. I blanked out in the middle of the performance in front of hundreds of people. FML
Making the scene
Today, I had my first day in an acting class. Our assignment was to perform a dramatic monologue. I got super into it, threw myself into character, and dramatically fell to my knees to deliver a line. Unfortunately, my knees slipped, and I faceplanted into the floor in front of the entire class. FML
Lazy ableism
Today, I gave a presentation. My teacher deducted points because I "need to learn how to speak more confidently, because you often stumble over your words." I have a stutter. FML
Today, I was sent the script to a play I'm participating in at school. After reading it a couple of times, I noticed that my part has been forgotten completely. FML
Today, I was teaching a small group of improv students. I asked one guy to do a monologue, and laughed to myself while he did so. I said, "Sorry, I'm just laughing at the way you're doing it." He then got upset and pointed out that he had a speech impediment. FML
Britain's Got Talent?
Today, during an important music audition, I fudged everything up and forgot half the lyrics of the song I was performing, so I just sort of tailed off into embarrassed silence on stage. It was an original song, I wrote the lyrics myself. All the lady could say was, "Good luck next year, dear." FML
Anonymity
Today, I got my grades back. I got a very poor evaluation for my lit class, which was odd because it didn't match the impression from my end-of-class meeting with the professor. It does, however, include a nod to the supposedly-anonymous negative class review I gave her, though. FML
Today, we had a speaking assessment in Spanish class. When it was my turn, I yawned in the middle of a sentence, said, "Excuse me" and finished my sentence. She took points off because I hesitated and I spoke in English, not Spanish. FML
Today, I gave a presentation in class. I felt pretty good about it, until afterwards when I was told I lost points for communication because I'd been chewing gum. I wasn't, I just have a speech impediment. FML

Congratulations, as you did a great job! Too bad for you, that the scorer did not.

And the hunt for 12's seemingly nonexistent comment begins... Thanks guys.

Oh the nerve some people have!

Well maybe they were looking for a different type of nervous. Or maybe they're stupid. Try mentioning it to them and see if you can get a better score.

I agree. Maybe your teacher or whoever gave you the score was like confused or something, so if i were you, i would just point out that you were supposed to be nervous. I hope you get the points back!

Drama teachers are annoying. -_- sorry

Teacher: Here are your points! OP: What? Minus points for being nervous? I was supposed to be nervous! Teacher: How do you feel now? OP: Pretty upset! Teacher: Oh, minus 5 more points, you're supposed to be nervous! (Sorry OP, there's just no winning in this situation.)

48- Whoops, accidental thumb-down instead of up. Sorry!

They're drama teachers for a reason... They know when someone is actually nervous.

55 - Whoops, intentional thumb-down instead of up. Sorry!

Hey, it just means you're good at conveying your character!

Maybe you seemed nervous in between the monologue and they couldn't tell the difference in your performance?
Robro54 6
Probably acted like Kristen Stewart...
upyourzlolz 11
How can she be so nervous when she's always stoned?
madgrinchhatter 12
You can't "act" like Krusty Stewart because Krusty Stewart can't act.
betseyville 6
Maybe it's because you don't know what a monologue is.
ZebulonPike 8
More like YOU don't know what it is, 11
magicdragon5 2
Do you really think OP would give a monologue, not knowing what a monologue is?
Bladian 5
You're both stupid. The person said that because OP is so stupid they can't even spell monologue properly.
Krulin 8
@66: You're an idiot, there's more than one way to spell monologue/monolog.
bigdurrdy 4
No, there is ONLY ONE WAY to spell monologue correctly. You're an idiot.
madgrinchhatter 12
You can spell it any way you want but there is only one way to spell it correctly. I can spell hairbrush with an f if I want to but it doesn't make it correct
