Today, I've officially spent more fixing my electric car than I spent buying it, less than a year ago. My tenant's 20 year-old junk car, however, runs just fine. It broke down a few months ago and cost less than a grand to fix. FML

Today, I’ve realized I have paid $1700 on repairs for a vehicle that I’ve only have had for six months. I traded in my previous vehicle to avoid this problem. FML
Today, I bought a new $10,000 car since my old one broke down. Today, I also found out the old one wasn’t starting because i never had it in park. FML
Today, I paid over $500 to pick up my car from the mechanic, after it'd spent almost a month there. It broke down again on the way home. FML
Today, I paid $2300 to a mechanic for fixing my car. It's also the day I got into an accident and totalled said car. FML
Today, on Christmas Eve, as I was getting my car loaded for the holiday rounds to the in-laws and parents, my car decided now was the time to break down. I recently put in over $1000 fixing it. FML
Today, my girlfriend's dad let me borrow his car for transportation to work because mine got totaled. This car is a complete dump and I've realized he's only letting me use it so it's my fault to fix the broken things on the car. So far, I've had to replace the battery and two popped tires. FML
Today, I learned that repairing my car will cost more than it's worth. I'm barely making it paycheck to paycheck and I had to sleep in that car several nights this week after getting thrown out of my sister's house. Now I need a room AND a car. FML
Today, my car broke down. My dad insisted he could fix it, but screwed up in the process. After finally getting the car towed to a mechanic, I was told that I'd only needed a new water pump, but thanks to the damage my dad did, fixing it all will cost me a small fortune. FML
Today, after months of riding a bike through the rain, I finally saved up enough for a car. It was a little aged, but ran fine. That is, until a tire blew out, the engine stalled, and the battery died within one week. FML
Today, my mom sold the car I've been working on for the last few years for 100 dollars. To buy gas for her car. FML

A new electric car would certainly have a warranty and you should have no repair expenses. Did you buy a used homemade kit car off Craigslist?

This is the second reason I’m waiting to buy an electric vehicle - get all the bugs ironed out. The first being that I’m flat broke.

a big selling point of older cars is cost of repairs. the more electronics it has the more expensive the fix can get. my father worked with old Chevy parts and could usually get parts remade, and delivered in a week or so for a couple hundred on the high end most times unless super custom. even had people buy Chevy parts and use/ convert them for other makes and models.
