Today, after telling my mother I don't want to celebrate new year eve, she decided to stay with me, so I'm not alone. Now, I'm not only stuck with very person who made me hate these EOY celebrations, but also I won't be able to go to bed after midnight. FML

EOY? Who uses business buzzwords like “end of year” in casual conversation? You should TCB until EOB, and then talk normally afterwards. Maybe this is why Mom thinks you are a drip.

Part of being a grown-up is learning to say, "I want some peace and quiet and time to myself for New Years, and I plan on getting to bed early and getting a good night's sleep. I love you and I'll see you the afternoon of the first." Followed by, "No, I love you, but you can call me that afternoon and tell me about your New Years. I will be enjoying a no-stress quiet New years." If you're 13 or 14, even 15, then yeah, you're describing an FML. If you're old enough to drive? You're old enough to use words and tell her. And if you're old enough to have your own place...yeah. Totally YDI.

Maybe you missed the part about being stuck with the very person that made OP hate EOY celebrations. Growing up, spending Christmas and NY's eve with my family was mandatory, a time full of yelling, stress (the source being a single person) and over all resentment due to not being able to spend the celebration with the people I actually wanted to be with. Then, that person completely ruined a NY's celebration by making a scene at a restaurant just because, that's when I decided to never spend those days with my family ever again. The one time I decided to spend New Year’s Eve alone, I didn't tell anybody, it was the first time I actually enjoyed that day. I did it only once because that person passed away and I was able to somewhat enjoy the festivities with the rest of my family after that.

Next year, try telling your mom you're going to a bar with friends for New Year's Eve. If she makes a fuss, go to a bar, friends or no friends, and silent your phone. Alternate solutions would be going to a friend's house, Times Square, or a hotel with free breakfast.
