My lifestyle choices

Today, I looked at my daughter's bank statements after she came to us in tears, crying that she was struggling financially. She orders Uber Eats five times a week. When I pointed this out, she said that she has to order out because cooking makes her want to kill herself. FML

There's a middle ground between ordering Uber Eats five times a week and cooking yourself; it's called premade meals bought at the grocery store. Or she can go on Facebook Marketplace for one of those ghost kitchen people who prepare meals out of their apartment. Anyway, do not let her bully you into giving her money!

Sounds like she needs a 5150 emergency psych hold in a mental hospital. Or, if she is just trying to manipulate you with those words, it would be a good reminder to quit that shit.

Hard to know, but I suspect that just preparing food does not really make daughter suicidal. It sounds like manipulation to me. … I understand that it can be difficult to go to the trouble of cooking from scratch for one. But the grocery store has whole sections of frozen or refrigerated ready to heat meals and entrees that are much cheaper than delivery. … Dad, I think you know that at best Daughter is being over-dramatic and irresponsible. But you might want to get her a mental health evaluation just in case there is a real issue with depression.
