I could see myself doing that, it's not like you were warned the mugs were suddenly lighter. You probably weren't the only one OP!

In "meet the robinsons" they throw their drinks on their faces after giving a toast. Just say you were toasting to world peace and own it. (I too would have been startled and embarrassed OP)
