Yeah, that isn't a friend. That's someone who's using you. Hell, depending on laws in your are, I'd take the little shit to small claims court. That said, generally if something is that important, it's best not to leave the house with it- even if you won't lose or damage it, there's always the one douche that thinks, "I'm going to destroy this person's property for my own amusement!" And, unfortunately, punching said scourges against humanity in the face until they realize that their sense of humor sucks and so do they, is frowned upon.
