Today, my family got our new puppy from a dog breeder. It turns out that, not only has this dog been severely abused, but the breeder looked exactly like me- the dog barks, whimpers, and pees every time he sees me. They will not get rid of him. FML

You expect your family to "get rid of him"? Charming. A clue: dogs recognise mostly based on smell. You don't smell like the abuser. Give him some time, show him some empathy, he will warm up to you. Abused animals need love, care and patience.

I hope you reported the guy that you got the dog from.

I met a rescue dog that is terrified of white guys wearing baseball caps. Just because smell is #1 doesn’t mean every other sense doesn’t matter.

I hope you reported the guy that you got the dog from.

PLEASE report the breeederr! that is so not ok!

even if you don't have hard evidence, he will then be on the authorities' radar and if other dogs are similar it will raise red flags, and also other people might also come forward.
