Today, my boss yelled at me for something I had no control over whatsoever. When I told him, he said he “would sort it out”. I was really glad so I kept thanking him. “No,” he said, “I meant if I were you I would sort it out”. FML

If he had said he was going to handle it, he would have said, "I WILL sort it out." If he said "I WOULD sort it out." He was telling you too. So unless English isn't your native language, that was on you.
