Today, I was rejected for a leadership position I held last year. Only 5 out of a hundred people were rejected. FML

Hello. This was my FML. First of all, to those of you who gave me the benefit of the doubt or advice, thank you. To those of you who were incredibly rude, I expected nothing less from the internet. Secondly, from my understanding, the applications are anonymous to those scoring them. I do not think that they knew it was mine or that I had held the position before. I should have worked harder on my application and found a way to integrate my previous experience. I was so busy with other things at the time, however, that I just kind of winged it. I wasn't even sure that I wanted the position again. I only decided that I did later on...too late I guess. Oh well, now I know for next time. Make up your mind; don't let anyone/thing else make it up for you. Last year when I did get the position, it was much more competitive even, which just makes this whole thing worse haha. There is really no good excuse for my not receiving the position other than self-sabotage.

This is like sex Ed where the 99 out of 100 condom failure and that 1 is you.

Lead by example on how to handle disappointment

99 out of 100 condoms fail? I think your sex ed class might have been misleading

No offense, but you really must have sucked at it.... not everyone is cut out to be a leader either...

That's like 2 standard deviations. Must feel good.

Wow. The Chosen 5%. Must feel good being that rare.

Not everyone is cut to be a leader! Just because you did it once, doesn't mean you'll get it again. Same thing applies for jobs and promotions. Sure you may be good at your job, but your attitude may suck or you're not a people-person. Vice Versa applies too! Sorry about that!

Contrary to the folks ripping you, consider that it may be that you did it last year and they wanted to give others a chance.

I am afraid to ask what you did so bad last year to make you one of the 5% not re-hired.
