How old are you? If you're over 15, then you don't really need to go trick-or-treating and instead should be focusing on your drama class.
I'm sorry, but once you're 16, you should be able to buy your own candy unless your parents don't allow it until you're an adult. It's weird for someone who is almost an adult to be asking other adults for candy like a little kid.
Until you’re legally an adult I say trick-or-treating is fair game. Why be treated like a kid but get none of the benefits of it?
Because it's called transitioning. At least in my area, anything over 14 is bound to get you weird looks. At 16, you should be the one passing put the candy for the kids.
I feel bad for you, being forced to behave like an adult when you only are 14 must suck. That's why you are so grumpy now?
Not grumpy. I just know if I wanted to be an adult, I must act like one, too.
Who cares how old OP is! Enjoying Halloween can be for any ages INCLUDING trick or treating.
I welcomed every teenager I saw tonight and watched my friend's 56yo roommate go out to trick or treat for herself. If you're willing to dress up and have fun with it, you're not too old. But 13 and up is old enough to suck it up when you run into mild disappointment such as missing a small holiday.
As someone who loves Halloween, I think this is complete BS. Snag your friends' candy and better luck next year. Or crawl out a window... but it'd probably be smarter to just try for next year.
How old are you? My oldest is 13 and we told him this is his last year to trick or treat.
Wow, you must make life really fun for your kid. *sarcasm* I would certainly rather teens dress up and have fun on Halloween instead of other things they could be doing (partying and drinking, for instance, like a lot of them near me do). They're still kids too, you know! Where does this mindset that only young children are allowed to trick or treat come from? It kind of makes me sad. Teenagers just want to have fun too.
you do know teenagers can drink and do drugs and still go trick or treating
I agree that at some point, you get too old for going trick or treating. But you TOLD him that it was going to be his last time? What are you going to do? Lock him up on Halloween?

How old are you exactly? I assume old enough to get over it, otherwise a lot of other students and parents would be bringing this issue up. Not that you can’t go trick or treating no matter your age. Hell, I’ll give candy to a full grown adult if they come up to the door. However, there’s a certain age where not trick or treating is no longer a FML.
As a fellow thespian (although an adult now)- it sucks that you are missing a super fun holiday. At least you still get the best elements, costumes and being a character. It does get better. Eventually you will grow up and can have all the candy you want. I hope you still pursue theatre if you chose.
You must suffer for your art. Although I’m not sure that missing out on a night of free candy will generate the suffering that inspires great art.
