this reminds me of a book I read in school. The Great Gatsby. Everyone went to his parties and had fun but when he died only 3 people went to his funeral out o so many invited

That's three more than you deserve. If the company you are leaving is a good one, everyone thinks you're an idiot and/or disloyal. If your company sucks, they all are jealous of you.
