How exactly were you forced? Did they hold a gun to your head or something? I've had intake appointments myself, and I was NEVER forced to say anything I didn't want to say. If I said no, that was that. They didn't demand I answer their question. What the heck kind of doctor are you trying to get in to that asked you that?
If you are under the age of 18, yes a parent is required to be present. Though, you can decline to answer any questions you are uncomfortable with. I have seen several therapists and psychiatrists throughout my life and the only time a parent was required to be present was when I was under 18 and I was about to decline any question I wanted, if I felt it was not connected the reason why I was there
The story behind this is a cluster-f*ck. In a nutshell: While I'm above the age of eighteen, me and my mom made an agreement for parent guardianship. So, she technically couldn't leave the room. The appointment mostly involved the doctor writing out my answers on some sort of computer document, and we couldn't continue until I answered the question, and "no comment" was not an option. The forum also directly asked me how I "sexually identify myself" as well as what gender(s) I was attracted to. Thankfully(?) I didn't have much to hide, and afterwards my mom was pretty pissed off I had to answer such a question.
