Today, after having my fifth job interview and filling out multiple applications, I'm still unemployed. My brother, who recently quit his third job this year, had a job interview and got the job. FML

Maybe you should think about asking him for some advice instead of complaining online.

I don’t think you have to complain about your brother’s good luck, your bad luck is enough

Use his résumé and send him to do the interview, and then you show up for work once he gets the job for you. Such an obvious solution — aren’t you glad I watch so many sitcoms?

So you have the exact same qualifications, grades and experience as your brother? And both of you apply to the same exact jobs? No? Maybe ask him for some advice on what you might be doing wrong or STFU moaning about it. You had time to submit an FML and be on this website, you sure using that time wisely!!! (sarcastic by the way, in case this goes over OP's head)

OP, there are many possible reasons you could be having trouble finding a job - That includes appropriate education or training for the jobs you are applying for, the quality of your resume, and how well you interview. You need feedback from someone who knows you and your circumstances to help you become more successful in your job search. Potential employers are looking for someone with the job skills and training appropriate to the job, a “can do” attitude, and willingness to put forth the effort to do well at the job. I urge you to talk to someone who can help you understand what you need yo do to be more successful at your job search - And do not give up.

What sort of jobs is he applying for? If they are entry level unskilled job then they are easier to get than a job requiring specif training etc.

If your brother doesn't work in the same industry as you, his job hopping is irrelevant to your inability to land a job. Like you I've applied for dozens of jobs recently, had a handful of interviews but no success securing another job yet. But I know people who, like your brother, apply for one job, get an interview and get the job; but they don't work in the same industry as me so it's not a concern. Competition can be fierce. Maybe ask the companies which rejected you for further feedback beyond the default "you didn't have enough experience" - try and find out what they felt was lacking and work on improving it for the future.
