Being way off may hurt you but different interpretation can give you creativity points or for that matter they may have you redo the question
Sometimes things like that happen and you feel like you screwed everything up. But I know a guy who couldn't enrol at a uni he wanted just because he was a single point short in total amount of points needed. He decided to pick a completely different subject and in following years he found a thing he loves in that field. So all went better than expected :D If a plan fails, just try something else without resentment. It might work out even better. Keep your chin up
