Why would you expect a reward for doing your job to the best of your ability? That's sort of what you're paid to do anyway, isn't it? Be grateful they even acknowledged you for that, and wanted to give you anything.

at a previous job that I worked at I was employee of the month after 2months working there. I got nothin for it... so chocolate is better than nothing
