92 youre an idiot it was sarcasm.
I didn't even need to look at the comments to know people were going to say YDI. But OP, this should not be a YDI. People are morons and obviously don't know the road rules. If someone runs up the back of you, REGARDLESS of why you stopped, it is THEIR fault because they did not leave enough room between themselves and the next car (you). You might have to slam on the brakes for a child running out onto the road, a tree falling over, a car running a red light, a big animal, or a small animal. No matter the reason, the person behind is responsible for leaving themselves enough stopping room. If they haven't, it is their fault. In fact, most people I know have been taught you must never SWERVE if an animal is on the road (because you might hit a pedestrian or oncoming car), but instead, you should brake. This way you do NOT endanger any other people on the road (unless, apparently, some moron behind you is travelling too close to your car). The only appropriate time to swerve is if you're going to hit a person (eg. pedestrian or car).
hint: never stop for animals it causes accidents
Your a moron and shouldn't be allowed to drive. You dont slam on your brakes for squirrels.

Hmmm... that's why you don't "slam on your brakes" for small rodents:(
You're supposed to keep driving unless it's a animal that can cause an accident, like a deer. Otherwise, surprise surprise, the abruptent stop can cause an even bigger accident than hitting a squirrel. I'm 16 and I know this.
