Today, while driving my new car, a squirrel ran in front of me so I slammed on my brakes. The person behind me didn't notice and rear-ended me. The squirrel got hit by a car going the opposite direction. FML

Hmmm... that's why you don't "slam on your brakes" for small rodents:(

You're supposed to keep driving unless it's a animal that can cause an accident, like a deer. Otherwise, surprise surprise, the abruptent stop can cause an even bigger accident than hitting a squirrel. I'm 16 and I know this.

That's your dumb ass fault. Your supposed to just keep goin when somethin like that happens, for just that reason. Now you got your NEW car and the dudes behind you ****** up for a rodent.

I understand why the OP slammed on the brakes, but that was a very careless thing to do. Besides, if you knew your Seinfeld lore you would understand that we have no deal with the squirrels. :-)

live in alaska. if you slam on your brakes and the car behind you doesn't have time to stop, it means they're at fault because they're driving too close. but you're really only supposed to slam on the brakes for animals that can do damage (here it's porcupine, moose, caribou, stuff like that)

that is exactly why I don't stop or swerve to miss animals. not ******* up my shit to save them

U risked ur life and some strangers life just for a squirrel? Get a life

Yaaaaaay the squirrel died!!! Yessssss!!!!!

You're not supposed to break for animals... It's just as dangerous as swerving

I don't feel bad for u at all I feel for the poor bastard that hit u and is responsible for the damage costs maybe they can't even fix their car all cause u didn't want to hit a roddent

never avoid small animals, unless it is safe, for this reason
