You're not alone

Today, I'm a recovering self-harm addict (yes, that’s a thing). I’ve been doing well for years, but lately I’ve had intense urges to hurt myself by biting or scratching. I know the urges would go away if I acted on them, but I don’t want to hurt my family by hurting myself. FML

If you were in therapy but have stopped it might be time to go back. If the therapy is ongoing let your therapist know that your impulses are starting to manifest again. And try doing something else when you feel the urge to self-harm, like going for a walk.

i really hope if they do this they wont be sent to somewhere like a mental hospital if they tell their therapist though (unless thats what they need of course). its just that i notice mental hospitals tend to mistreat their patients, but i agree on the second thing thats really good advice
