Today, I won the trifecta. No, not at the races, but the trifecta of having months of work destroyed in a computer crash, finding I'll have to take custody of my brother's child, and finding the nice ring I bought to console myself with vanish from the mail. Well played, universe. Well played. FML

Don't you normally have to agree in advance to become the legal guardian of someone else's child? Or were you called upon at the last minute? If you were, I'd suggest finding someone better suited to looking after the kid, assuming you don't think you're up to it. Contact USPS about your ring, and someone in I.T about your computer.
