Hmmmm, I think your reply to the email should be more along the lines of telling the bitch to follow her own advice about not telling you.
You should confront them, instead of dealing with all this BS around-the-back kind of stuff that people do. If they can't be honest about it, you're better off without them. And if it's something about yourself, you need to find out what it is from them and fix it.
