Today, it's my daughter’s 18th birthday. Today is also the day that my husband told me he’s leaving me for her, and he wants a divorce. When I threatened to press charges for potentially grooming her as a minor, he told me I don’t have a leg to stand on because, “She’s been at the age of consent anyway.” FML

I have a feeling that there were no really good options. Getting married at that age now is frequently associated with an unintended pregnancy. None of the options are great. … In this her getting married might be a good or bad option based on the relationship which you have no way to judge. … There comes a time sooner or later when your children are making their own choices. Encourage her, let her know you still love her, and by your actions let her know that if it doesn’t work out she still has a home to come back to.
