Yeah, FYL. This is why I get out of my seat and stand up when something like this happens. Even if she refuses I'm still standing, so I don't look like a jerk if something goes wrong.

#16 oh i ear you, i have the exact same problems, my fiancé having really bad health, combined with a instable type 1 diabetes. The worse thing is that people not understanding are also my family who says "type 1 diabetes, so what ?". He does whishes he had cancer instead, people would be all "aww". However Asthma sucks. And op should have asked the lady quite loud "you don't want my seat yet ?" But it's true some persons have hard time sitting down and then standing up.

old people can be realy dense... One thing you can do is not offer them your seat, but stand up and refuse to sit down instead. Something about the seat going to waste gets them to just sit.

When you got off the subway, you should have limped really bad, and made them feel bad for thinking you didn't deserve to be there.
