Today, while enjoying a lovely 80 degree day, I returned from a 2-hour bike ride to find my truck window smashed. The only thing taken was my change of clothes. My insurance company says it'll cost $1000 to replace the window. I feel like I got robbed twice. FML

OP here. Yeah, 1k is what the insurance company told me. I knew it was a ripoff and found a local repair shop to fix the window for ... much less than that. I am not sure what the thieves saw in a bag of grubby shorts and a t-shirt, but that’s what they took. And why the f am listed as being in Indianapolis, I live nowhere near there. LOL.

if it really was just a smashed window, just call a local glass company and have them put in a new one. you dont have to use your insurance.

Don't go through insurance, you can get it fixed way cheaper directly through a repair center. Your deductible is probably $1,000, which means they wont pay for anything until you have spent $1,000.

It’s the same on my vehicle ($1000). That’s why I pay extra for a $250 deductible on my auto insurance.

where the hell are you at in Indianapolis that is 80 degrees? LMFAOOOOOO!

Your insurance company is trying to rip you off. I’ve had 2 windows replaced in the past year and even together it hasn’t been more than $500

Window replace is mandatory covered by insurance where I live and cannot count against an insurance rate increase

Ok? None of that has anything to do with the story. It doesn’t say windows aren’t covered and no one mentioned a rate increase.

sounds like you should’ve taken a drive instead

it’s a lot harder to break a window on a bike

Why is your insurance company charging you anything at all? And $1000 for just a door window? That's like 3x as much as it should be at least.

Sorry to hear OP! I was in the misfortune line of break ins. After I parked my car and left, a brand new SUV and dodge charger parked in front of me. The girls in the SUV left out their wallet, shopping bags, and brand new shoes. 4 cars got broken in to, except my friend's "old" corolla. I had UB 2 speaker under driver seat but they didn't take that. They literally just took a melted lush body bar and some change (less than $5). I've heard that they break windows and quickly look through it to see what they can get and leave. I had to pay $200 for my repair. The girls just bought their SUV that week and they got all their bags stolen from the trunk and back seats. no matter what, never leave anything in sight cause lazy mf will try and steal it
