Today, at my graduation for my high school GED, my parents said they were getting all my family and my girlfriend together. So we all went out to a steakhouse down the road, everyone ordered steaks. Turns out the 'surprise' was me paying. I only got 50$ grad money, and the bill was 159.98. FML

If you got a HS diploma your bill would be 3x as much.

is your family asain? if so I guess it was expected; if not that seriously sucks for you!

I would've gotten up and walked out as soon as i heard. Bullshit family. Grats on graduating tho bro

are you ******* kidding me? some of us had to quit high school not because of dumb shit like drugs and alcohol but other more serious reasons. i may have a GED but i'm working on a doctorate degree. half of what would have been my graduating class hasn't gone to college and is probably on welfare. but at least they graduated HS because as we all know that's such an important degree.

#45 I know he did not graduate ok. so your famliy is all a bunch of cold mined douche bags.....

hey, u graduated college, ur an adul now, you can take some of the bill.

I don't see how the GED really has anything to do with whether or not the OP deserved to be screwed over on dinner by their family. The expecatation implied was that the OP would be treated to a dinner. The accomplishment in question doesn't really matter, does it? The OP's family is douchey for doing this.

To those who say he deserves it for not finishing high school: There is nothing wrong with getting your GED. GEDs are for those smart enough to be able to skip four years of high school. (And it doesn't make a difference if you continue your education). I would have been class '09, would have graduated last Saturday. Instead, I've already got two years of college under my belt. Better off? I think so. (Jealous you got a graduation though.)
