Today, my daughter posted a poem on Facebook about how her father and I abused her for years. It's a complete lie and an obvious attempt to impress her boyfriend, whom she thanked for "rescuing" her. I've received several hateful messages already, along with threats to report me to CPS. FML

Calmly sit her down and explain to her that she just lost access to all the devices that have an internet connection in your house, since she obviously can't handle it. No phone, no computer, tablet or whatever else she has - if she wants to earn them back, she gets to do so by volunteering at an organization that helps actual abuse victims.

I agree with one of the posters. Make her volunteer at a battered women's shelter or anything along those lines.

I say call CPS on her behalf scare her straight

There's two types of people in this world. Top comment number one and top comment number two.

sit her down and explain your feelings while reading that, infront of her boyfriend. That is very sevre behaviour just for attention and unfortunetly unless you do something extreme to head it off between her and her bf she will always keep the lie going. Maybe a proffesional too? sorry that must really hurt.

Call CPS yourself. Have them investigate these unfounded claims and clear you. Perhaps your daughter should experience foster care? Maybe she should be removed from your home? Being a ward of the state for a while might open her eyes to the drastic implications of her lies.

U must be doing something wrong for her to even think of that

I would talk to her and have her do volunteering at an abuse organization but also allow cps to investigate so they know y'all wasn't abusive towards her

I would give her something to cry about

Abusive parents don't always realize when they are being abusive. Sit with your child and have them explain what you do that makes them feel abused.
