Today, it has been 8 months since I started a photography project in which I would take a picture of the same tree every day for a year. I just heard a noise outside. They cut the tree down. FML

Sounds like a much more interesting project now - If you quit now you're just declaring that your project wasn't important to you. . .This can be spun into some kind of quasi bullshit over-urbanization statement if you keep at it.

take a picture of it being cut down then take a picture of the stump and whatever grows around it for the remainder of the time.

set up a little candle next to the tree for a little candle vigil to spruce up your tree stump pictures. IF they didn't remove the stump, lots of little trees will try to pop up. Trees are hard to kill!
