Better safe than sorry I guess
The problem isn't that a parent was concerned. That's perfectly alright. Th problem is parents who are so willing to call the cops on a situation they have no knowledge about, when a 5 minute call to the schools office could have cleared this up. Idiot parents like this are just as bad as negligent parents imo
I think the first step should have been calling the school to see what was going on. The person's concern was valid, but calling the cops was a little over-the-top.
Have him call you mom in class instead of Mrs. ....
Teachers typically aren't allowed to teach their own children. It's rare that it happens.
I understand the whole "the person should have called the school and checked first" but what are they going to do without a name? If the person was sitting here trying to describe "a kid with short brown hair, kind of tall, tan skinned" could describe like 45 people at that school for all we know.
Wouldn't that logic apply to calling the cops? some teacher about this tall and some blonde kid... etc. If they had enough enough on the teacher and child to inform the police they had enough to call the school.
They could have given the cops a license plate number. I'm not sure if that would be on school record for teachers. So, there is a possibility they tried to call the school but couldn't find out the name so they called the cops instead. I don't see why they didn't simply ask the kid though...
@46 Actually some states in the US are now making schools take as much info as possible without being too pushy about the parent/guardian of a child because of the rape and assault and molestation rates in many counties and states. It's mainly a protection service to maintain the most protection of the future generations as possible.
Better safe then sorry...?
What a **** block. Assuming you're a woman.
If say your kid was the student and he was in danger or whatever I would want someone to call and I can guarantee that 100% of you would also that are saying "mind your own business". The person who called was just looking out for them and plus I think that it's better to have the cop that checked in researching that than pulling me over on my way home.(If your a cop please don't arrest me)
The thing is why call the cops about it? It is a situation occurring everyday in public. It wouldn't have killed whoever it was that called the cops to just ask either the kid or the teacher in question why they were always riding together. If they had gotten a shady or no answer that would be when to call the cops not before. Teachers have children too and those children usually go to school in the same district as their parents teach, it is not unreasonable to consider that the teacher might be collecting their own child.
honestly, I can understand the confusion these days. a school board near me does not allow even my cousin, a teacher, to hand her younger sister lunch money if she forgets it. she was doing a placement at her sis' high school when she found this out. some schools don't allow teachers to be forward about being personally connected to students.

In a world of people who are now overly paranoid about every little thing, I can understand how the wrong assumption was made. It's unfortunate that it reflected negatively upon yourself but I imagine this has been corrected by now and hopefully everyone will move on and mind their own business. :)
Whoever called the fuzz on you is mind-bogglingly dunderheaded. People are too paranoid nowadays.
