Netflix is a drug

Today, my fiancé completely missed the birth of our first child because he had started watching a new series on Netflix and really wanted to know how it ended. By the time he made it to the hospital our daughter was already 7 hours old. FML

You sure you want to marry him? He seems to have his priorities a little mixed up.

If he can misses the birth of his own daughter, imagine what else he will miss down the road. Rethink before you marry him.

That's ridiculous! He needs to reexamine his priorities. A Netflix marathon can be put on hold but his daughter is only born once. Plus during childbirth it's really important to have the emotional support of your partner. The fact that he didn't think that you might want him there more than he wanted to watch his tv show is very immature and selfish.

You mean ex fiance right? Because if he's seriously putting a tv show before your kid before she's even born, you should drop that like a hot potato.

If he was my fiancee, he would be gone. I don't put up with that crap. My husband fell asleep both times I was in labor (reasonable after being in labor for 21 hours with my first and 36 with my second). On my second child (girl), I almost died during labor. He was there. That is sad that he can't stop the TV for a few hours to see his daughter. He can pick it up later.

Sounds like you need a new (better ) man in your life, OP.

You may want to rethink marrying this man. If Netflix is important then his daughter's birth, then can you really trust him to be there when he is really needed? For example, your child needs to be picked up from daycare and he decides to put it off until the big game is over. Perhaps your car has a flat and you need him to pick you up, but he goes, "Just let me finish this card game with the guys first."
