Today, I went to my boyfriend's house to meet his parents. After hundreds of passive-aggressive comments, my boyfriend and I went into the kitchen. I started complaining to him about how his parents were horrible and mean. Little did I know, his parents had followed us in and were right behind me. FML

Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time. Turns out his dad is the asshole customer that I complain about all the time. He recognized me too and spent the entire dinner making passive-aggressive remarks about how bad of an employee I am. FML

Today, I was invited by my boyfriend's parents for dinner at their house. The dinner went well I thought, until I was getting ready to leave. Before I could make it out the front door, I could hear them discussing their disappointment that their son would ever consider someone like me. FML

Today, my boyfriend finally invited me over to his parents' house so I could meet them. My boyfriend, his dad, and I were sitting in the living room when I saw a really sketchy person outside, so I said, "There's some creepy hobo man outside messing with your trash." The "creepy hobo" was his mom. FML

Today, my parents met my boyfriend, and to say it went badly is an understatement. My mom went outside to relax by chain smoking and the shouting, and the screaming only ended when my dad took my boyfriend by the scruff of the neck and threw him out the front door into the street. FML

Today, I took my girlfriend home to meet my parents. My dad was having a bad day and was rude from the outset, but things went to total hell when he started screaming that he'd "kill" our microwave if it didn't "shut the hell up". My girlfriend now thinks we're a family of abusive psychos. FML

Today, I met my boyfriend's parents for the first time over dinner. I had to use the bathroom part way through, and ended up taking the foulest dump of my life. I cracked open a window on my way out, but my boyfriend's dad went in soon after, quickly retching and booming, "What the fuck?!" FML

Anyone who thinks she deserved it has obviously never been in this situation. If his parents were HURTING and being mean to her then they deserve everything they've got coming. And if theyre that nasty, I'm certain the BF knows it and is not going to be offended by her having her feelings hurt. It's not her fault she's human and has emotions. And if their relationship is gonna work then he needs to know the truth if they make her uncomfortable and he should stick up for her. And furthermore, she probably said it in their house because it was bothering her A LOT and she wanted to express herself.

My boyfriend's parents are mean too. I barely see them and refuse any kind of contact but the one I can't control, for example when we met at the street... Yes they might be mean, and I'm on your shoes so yeah FYL, but when you want to trash talk about them just as a way to make it stop bugging you, do it with a friend. No matter how terrible the parents are your boyfriend won't feel confortable if you talk about it with him. Probably because he knows about it, and can't do a thing a change their opinion or their behavior towards you... Good luck with the "in-laws" OP... I hope your boyfriend is worth that ;) mine is...
