Today, in the middle of a romantic walk through the park where we had our first date, my husband actually walked into a tree because he was looking at a woman who had sat down on the grass in such a position that he could see up her skirt. Very romantic of him, I must say. FML

Today, I was going to propose to my girlfriend on my boat at the lake. As we were looking at the mountains all around us, she playfully pushed me off the side into the water. As I got back on the boat, I realized that not only was my cellphone dead, but the ring had fallen into the deep water. FML

Marriage is a serious decision - Trying to make it into a stunt or performance is a bad idea. Yes those performances may look exciting or romantic on a video where everything came out nice, but they risk going bad. Your partner needs the space to decide without undue pressure from bystanders so they don’t have to back out later. And you might need the space not to be more embarrassed if they say “no” or “not now”.

Your partner needs the space to decide without undue pressure from bystanders so they don’t have to back out later. And you might need the space not to be more embarrassed if they say “no” or “not now”.
