India just isn't a safe place for females. This is very common knowledge. Between the urban gender imbalance (rural areas are actually starting to even back up now) and the cultural attitudes towards women, you're both very lucky that all you got was one of you groped. No, I should NOT need to say that. No one should in the 21st century but reality is what it is. India just ISN'T safe for females. As to the cholera, it's an everyday risk in a place with seriously substandard sanitation and food hygiene. You would have known all this if you'd actually done your research properly. DON'T choose India if you want a safe, comfortable taste of 'exotic'. Or if you do, go with an organised tour group who can keep you safe and fed safe food and drink.
