Today, I was trying to change my PIN code in order to make my phone more secure and prevent people from getting information from it. Instead, I somehow ended up locking my phone permanently. FML

Halloween
A failed costume, stolen candy and a very real scare: Halloween, the one night when fear is allowed.
Same thing different taste
Today, I was playing with my phone and turned it on lock mode. I changed my lock code a few months ago, so that no one would be able to guess it. Turns out I can't guess it either. FML
Today, I've come to the conclusion that my phone addiction is getting out of control after I typed my PIN code into the microwave. FML
Today, I remember that I changed my phone lock password when I was still half asleep this morning, but I don't remember what I changed it to. FML
Wicked game
Today, I finally password-protected my phone, to protect it from my friends' favorite game: stealing it and sending stupid texts, and hijacking my Facebook. They quickly found a new game. My phone is now locked for 24 hours due to too many attempts to guess the password. FML
Today, I realized that the random string of numbers I deleted in my phone notes a few months ago was actually the pin code to my new bank account. FML
EVERYTHING COMPUTER
Today, I spent several minutes trying to log into my email, only to realize I was typing my work password instead of my personal one. After three failed attempts, my account locked me out for 24 hours. Now I can’t check my emails or reset the password because they need me to check my email. FML
Today, my cell phone broke. It wouldn't even turn on. I went online to access my account so that I could order a new phone. I couldn't remember my password. The phone company had an option of "forgot my password". Upon clicking I get a message saying "Your password will be sent to your phone". FML
Computer says no
Today, I was trying to be a responsible adult and check my credit score. I accidentally mistyped my password five times, got locked out, and had to call customer service. They asked me so many security questions, I started questioning my own identity (and sanity). FML
Modern life is rubbish
Today, I locked myself out of my apartment. But it’s 2024, so I have a smart lock I can unlock through an app on my phone. Except I also left my phone inside. The worst part? I had to ask my neighbor to call my mom so she could unlock my apartment from her phone. FML
Pile on
Today, my phone reset, wiping the touch ID on my credit card. I can't remember the password so I'm locked out. I tried "Forgot password", but you need to have the physical card. The card is tucked away in the bank lock box. The key to the lock box is packed in one of the 150 boxes we have prepped to move. FML

I've done that before, it's not something that was in the manual for me. If you call your service provider though they usually give you a code to unlock it again. Just don't try guessing that too otherwise your phone will permanantly lock up and you have to mail it in.

The same thing happened to me...it's probably not permantenty locked. You probably fried your SIM card. It's like $30 to get a new one.

I concur with #52 I did the exact same thing. damn samsungs but man are those phones epic. they can sure take a beating!!

Mine got fixed for free. I called the customer service guy and said, "My phone is broken. And Oprah is coming to eat you. If I don't get my phone fixed, I won't be able to order enough cows to satisfy her hunger. Nothing will remain of you." My phone worked before I was able to tell him the model number. Much succes. But he was still eaten. But at least my phone works, right?

@52 not all phones take sim cards. Sprint doesn't for example. The OP should definitely call their service provider to get their phone fixed, and probably should have in the first place so that the representative could walk them through it. FYL OP, it was a simple mistake, but my phone is my lifeline so I feel for you.

I used to work for a wireless company (sprint) this is actually a really easy fix. take the phone to a corporate store with repair technicians and they will unlock it or reset the phone. you may lose your contacts, but if you locked an iPhone it will be backed up on your iTunes.

whatever asshole at the warehouse who thought to put a possibilty to permanently lock your phone is a dick

okay so about everyone here has had that happened to them, it's not a big deal.. but you kimda deserve it for being a dumbass.

yeah, number 52 is right. I've done this before. don't keep trying to guess the code. call the company and they will give it to you. if you failed the code too many times and locked yourself out, it means you fried your sims card and will have to replace it. sorry for your bad luck op:/

Agreed. I think I've dropped my Reclaim a bajillion times and it still functions within a modicum of normality.

Locking your phone permanently and rendering it a useless paperweight. There's an app for that.
insanelyhot 0
ur a retard for locking it
RaptorJeezus 1
OP isn't a retard, they're speshul :D also... just hold a strong magnet to the phone, it wipes the SIM card and "resets" it.
gozar_fml 1
77: yeh, because those kinds of decisions are left up to the people in the warehouse.

tell me about it. that happened to me with my new phone. annd to top it off, it kept calling 911! ):

FYL. You should read the manual first, and write your password in a paper and keep it in a secure place so that you wouldn't forget your password too. Just in case.
sixtimessix 0
but then the paper will end up getting lost. OP doesn't sound responsible enough for a piece of paper
swglol 0
Then it will be OP's own fault if he lost such an important paper
ElMetalero 0
then she'd have to get another paper to write it down thus cutting another tree and making the world a more f'ed up place than it already is good job op

Here in the UK nearly everyone gives out free SIM cards - O2 have adverts all the time where you text them a code and they send you up to five free SIM cards in the post <3
