Please don't feel offended OP. What science says is that after 40 is when having children is risky (regardless of whether you are healthy or not). You have a higher chance of giving birth to a child with abnormalities. This is not due to your health, it's because the eggs have been in your body for so many years and naturally, that grow older as we do. I know about a lot of women who did freeze their eggs, don't feel bad about it please. I'm pretty young but I may consider it too because I am pursuing a career that takes awhile to complete. In the end, it's all up to you! 27 is not anything close to 40, so you're good! Maybe try teaching your mom the truth, unless she doesn't listen, in which case it's best to just ignore. Feel better!

It is the same eggs. Women are born with approximately 2 million eggs which sit in their ovaries. After the age of 13-14 (or whenever the body deems fit), an egg is released every month and makes its way down to the uterus. If the egg is not fertilized in time, then it is washed down along with other nutrients via blood (hence the period). Women are born with ALL the eggs they are ever going to have and they don't make any new eggs in their lifetime. Thus the eggs (sitting in the ovaries) age as the person ages, which is why many babies conceived after 40 are born abnormal. Hope that makes sense!

I don't think your health is what she's suggesting...

I don't know your mom, but it could be because of your age, some women/mothers are critical if you're approaching 30 and haven't had a kid yet. They think it's too old, that you'll miss your chance and never have one, not that there's even anything wrong with that, but in their mind you'll end up regretting it when you're older and can't have kids. It could also be because she thinks your reproductive system is unhealthy and she wants you to have a back up. Either way, set her straight, just tell her there's no need for it, you're healthy, and when or if you have kids is your business, not hers.

You know it's not the same eggs, right? :) Women have periods for a reason, and that is because the eggs hasn't been fertilized. New eggs every month!

If you don't want kids now, but do want biological kids later in life, it is technically better to freeze eggs younger, since it reduces the risk of atypicalities in the infant being the result of the egg aging. If you freeze them, you can always get a surrogate to carry for you, even at age fifty+.

Doing it while your healthy is the best time
