Today, my mother-in-law told my wife that the $60k she offered and promised us to pay down our mortgage had dwindled to $1k and then she never deposited it either. Why? No one had ever helped her so her daughter didn't deserve it. This is the third time she has done this to us. Merry Xmas. FML

Oh, We didn't hold our breath or anything, given the previous times she has done this. My wife has always been there for her mom, been the apologist for her mom, helped bring the family back together when her siblings estranged themselves from their mom only to be told on christmas that she doesn't deserve any help is just too much, too far, ya know.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

if it's the third time she's done it, you should have learned not to trust her after the first time.

Why would you expect a gift so large? $60k seems a bit outrageous. Pay your own mortgage.
