Today, my computer stopped working. Me, the technology challenged one, decided to do a system recovery on it hoping that I could make it better. Turns out, system recovery means deleting all the files off the computer including family photos, music and assignments and starting fresh. FML

YOU NEVER PUSH BUTTONS WHEN YOU DON'T KNOW FOR SURE WHAT IT WILL DO! Crap! That is one of the first lessons you learn as a child! Didn't your mom tell you not to touch things that you don't know about? Did you not pay attention?

Dude, it's not that hard to fix. Just undo the system restore.

You should have an external hard drive and always back up anything you want to keep to that drive before attempting anything like a system recovery. Regular backups are a good idea anyway, just in case the main drive in the computer should fail. You can buy a 1 terabyte external drive for only about $100, which is worth it to protect your important files.

Bullshit. System restore does not delete any data at all. That's drive formatting...

Your a flat out dumbass listen and learn..... System restore is when you restore your computer to a date that you set it too before hand. System RECOVERY is when you restore your computer back to the FACTORY SETTINGS! Meaning everything gets deleted and is restored to its orginal state like brand new in a box. Restoring it is when you restore it back to the date you set it too. Got it genius?

Seems like at least half of you don't know the difference between "system recovery" and "system restore". Isn't it hilarious how quickly you are to insult the OP, when it's soooooo obvious you haven't a clue either?

Exactly what I was thinking at least someone has a sense of mind. Read my comment for the guy who said...Bullshit. System restore does not delete any data at all.....WOW its so hilarious how dumb people can be when trying to insult someone.

anyone saying system restore doesn't delete, it doesn't. she did a system recovery, which, to my knowledge is like REINSTALLING WINDOWS and wiping your hard drive. my computer died and 46

I did the same thing before too but the files are still in your computer. Go into your file search and type in the name of something that you had saved on your computer and you should be able to find everything again. I thought I lost all my stuff too but I managed to find it all.
