Some people just don't believe in marriage, or have had a bad experience that means they don't want to go through it again. If you can't understand you should at least respect his oponion
And some people genuinely see marriage as a new milestone in both their lives and relationships. She told him during their first year that she wanted to be married. *If* OP is slightly upset or disappointed, she has the right to be so.
getting married is like signing a contract for life. it just isnt worth it.
Oh no dump him now! He isn't telling me you he's dumping you. Lots of relationships last longer without marriage
I don't understand why the comments are so supportive of the boyfriend's decision? OP was very clear. A bad experience is a terrible reason to deny her her dream to get married..
No, it's not. It's human nature. And it's probably better that this has come out now, as opposed to another three years from now when the OP has forced her partner into a marriage that's not reciprocated, and will end up a terrible experience for both parties. If the OP's dream is to get married, fine. She can either settle with the title of "girlfriend" and carry on with the relationship, or leave, so she can get married, and her partner doesn't have to feel the pressure of something he clearly has no interest in pursuing.
You shouldn't have stopped ******* him!

he said again implying he was married once. Maybe it's not that he doesn't want to get married, he's scared of you ending up like his failed marriage.
