Today, I realized my bible study class is slowly turning me into an atheist. FML

Yeah, lots of atheists become atheists that way. Reading and studying the Bible is what made me decide to be an atheist, just couldn't believe the stuff in it and didn't like a lot of the teachings. You really learn what it contains when you thoroughly study it, and I find it either makes you more devout, or turns you off from religion completely. If you still want to believe, there's lots of relaxed Christians and believers who don't really follow the Bible and just believe in God, so you could always do that. However, even if you become an atheist, there's nothing wrong with being one anyway.

Sorry to hear this if your religion is important to you. Not gonna knock you either way because it's none of my business to judge, but I'll offer some advice as an agnostic who joys studying religion. If you want a better relationship with your deity, going to church isn't the only way. The bible(if you're christian, just guessing) says that WE are the church, not some building. And if those in your flock don't practice what they preach, maybe it's time to find a new one, or take time to develop a personal relationship with your deity. In the end, it's your life and your belief, or faith if you prefer, it's not up to other people.

Maybe agnostic is more the path for you. You can have any faith - or lack thereof- you see fit. You should never feel ashamed of your beliefs... Unless of course you believe in anarchy and killing people and whatnot... Then you should probably be ashamed. I have always considered myself agnostic. I don't believe in God in the traditional sense and I certainly don't believe in the bible- though some of its teachings do hold merit- but I have my own faith.

Not a bad thing. There's a belief for everyone. Maybe being an atheist is the right path for you. Better to figure out what you truly believe than blindly following something you're forced into.

Maybe you'd do better own your own, if religion has been important to you. Organized religion can be too stifling for some people. Perhaps reading the Bible on your own, with your own interpretations would be a more spiritual experience. Or, be an atheist if you want.
