Today, after months of fight and miscommunication, I finally broke up with my boyfriend. The thing is, my family, mostly my mother, thinks of him as her own son. Guess who will have to still talk to him ? FML

You don't have to interact with anyone, if you don't want to. I haven't spoken to most of my family in years. Mainly because they're religious nuts/drunks, but my point is no one can force you to talk to him. If they want to talk to him, that's fine, but if they can't see why you no longer want to, that's their problem.

Just like BurnInDemonFire stated, you don't have to socialize with him. I had that issue with a former friend. He betrayed me, so I ended the friendship. Unfortunately, my family still kept bringing him over. When he came over, I mostly stayed in my room to avoid the bastard. You can, too. You are not obligated to say anything to your ex, and your family needs to get that into their skulls.
