Similar scenario but not same outcome. Maybe you should cut ties with both and run out to be on your own? Both my wife (black/asian/hispanic) and I (pasty white w/southern US family) had to go no contact and be exclusively on our own. But when family constantly interferes, it makes it less likely to try to strive for your best when family can be a boat anchor. If the problem stems from familial status, the solution is to cut out toxicity and maybe your partner doesn’t see a point when his family is there to remind him he’s still tied to them and if they aren’t happy, they’ll make sure to make him unhappy.
