Last month I pulled a prank on my co-worker by putting red pepper flakes in his water. He responded by strangling me to the point of blacking out right in front of our boss. Today I found out one of the co-workers I'm close with still keeps in touch with him and updates him about everything. FML

I understand that work isn't the place to play jokes n all, and not everyone is a fan of hot stuff, but how in the hell does OP playing a not very harmful prank on a coworker make it okay for him to be strangled to the point of passing out??? not trying to defend the OP or anything, but that seems like a waaaaay overreaction!

You’re not Jim Halpert. Stop with the pranks.

He acted in a terrible manner and deserved to be fired but so do you for your actions of putting contaminate in his water. Some people can have a significant intolerance to chilli pepper and to do what you did was essentially poisoning his water. A dick move.

You are the very worst of the species. You poison someone, then claim victimhood... because someone talked about you? Honestly, you should be in jail.

Wtf is wrong with all the people here saying that he deserved it? No matter what the answer is not "strangling to the point of blackout".

We’re responding because his complaint is about the co/worker still talking to the poisoned guy. Otherwise, that sentence is irrelevant. I’d be more supportive if the whine wasn’t about gossip. That portion clarified that this is about attention and status, not any actual physical harm.
