Foot, meet mouth

Today, I was talking to one of my supervisors at my new job. He asked if I knew a professor at the school I recently graduated from, and I decided to babble on about how shitty of a professor he was and how much I loathed his class. He then looked at me and said, "That's my dad." FML

I recommend learning the phrase: "Yes, why do you ask?"

If he was asking about a specific teacher, it's pretty obvious that he knows the guy and that you shouldn't talk shit about him.

So I can infer from your post that both supervisor and professor were male. Not necessarily, but most likely, they had the same last name. That, along with his inquiry about that specific professor were clear indicators of why this is a YDI and not an FML.

Well, it's possible that he didn't know his supervisor's last name. Like I said above, I've been working at my job for two and a half years and I don't know the last names of most of my coworkers.

Possible but not probable. Make it a point to get last names for future resumes!

You should learn to not bad mouth somebody to a complete stranger. That was a bad move mate. YDI sorry.

Ever heard the phrase "if you don't have anything nice to say..."??

Don't talk shit about others at work. Very unprofessional.

Lol I've had that happen before best of luck OP.

well.... if you knew the interviewers last name, maybe he introduced himself, then asked about a professor, with the same last name, since they're both male, they would have the same last name in a family. ...

To be fair, many people react that way. A hard lesson my dad taught me is not everyone cares about your opinion. So, don't ramble on about your thoughts like that. Sorry OP, but YDI.
