Today, I went to a tattoo artist to get what I thought would be really cute, elegant finger tattoos. I left with wobbly, blobby messes all over my fingers. FML

Today, my quite squeamish girlfriend came with me to get my latest tattoo. She saw a few drops of blood, screamed in the tattooist's ear, and completely fucked up part of the outline. She had to alter the tattoo drastically to cover up the mess and now it just looks bad. FML

Today, I got piss drunk. Being a tattoo artist, I came to the intoxicated conclusion that I could save much more money doing my own tattoos on myself. I now have my ex-boyfriend's name permanently on my thigh. It's not even spelled right. FML

Today, I was getting my first tattoo done. My parents told me it was a bad idea. My friends' parents told me it was a bad idea. I told them that people get tattoos done all the time and nothing goes wrong. Fifty minutes into the tattoo on my back, the artist said, "Oh shit, shit, shit. We can fix this." FML

Today, I was struggling through small-talk at a party where I knew nobody. Tattoos came up and I started talking about trendy, girly tattoos like feathers, anchors and infinity signs with stupid words in them. Turns out the girl I was talking to had all three. FML

Today, I got a tattoo with my boyfriend's name on it. As we're coworkers, I showed it to him thinking he’d love it. He told me he couldn’t continue the relationship anymore since he realized he wants to fix things with his wife. Three hours of pain and 2 years down the drain. FML

Actually, finger tattoos fade fairly quickly unlike tattoos on most any other part of the body.

Fingers are the worst. They're small, not flat and the skin is very thin... the ink doesn't stick in and it's hard to draw nice lines. So I guess it's an FML but YDI, kinda. You should have checked his work first. I hope for you it's not tattoed too deep so the ink will fade away eventually...

I mean, it sounds like you should've done more research on finger tattoos and the artist, but it is shitty that the artist didn't turn you away. Some of the best artists I know refuse to do finger tattoos - they're hard to do, super visible, and even if they do an amazing job, they end up turning to shit (or disappearing) within a couple years unless you're super lucky.
