I like #9, I thought you were funny. There are a lot of people that have lost their homes and apartments due to the economy. You just applied to live somewhere. Be happy, you're ahead of a lot of people!

^This. Also, we don't know the state of the barn, it's possible that there's been at least some conversion to make it habitable. Besides, if the OP's applied to live there, then the alternative is worse.

Well this COULD be a step up in the off chance that OP is homeless. However, in the sucking economy, it's more likely that a barn is a step or two below OP's previous housing. Fyl OP.

If its a converted barn, and its a good job, then you don't have much to complain about. If its an actual barn with animals etc, then, FYL. Double FYL if you get kicked out around Christmas because the owner is host to the annual nativity play.
