Hell, my girlfriend has just come through chemotherapy, and she likes her wig so much better than her old hair, she's thinking about shaving her head even after her own hair grows back. If it's a big issue for you OP, there are always options. Oh, but I agree - your boss is a dick.

I know other people have told you this, but -- SUE. Seriously. Name the company and your boss. At least consult a lawyer (or a few different ones) and figure out your options.
