Believing in silly superstitions really gave you bad luck...next time to avoid the clearly recognized irony, just hop off your bike and walk around.
Why were you riding a bicycle on the sidewalk? Sidewalks are for pedestrians. Sounds like you got what you deserved (and yes I've been hit by a car while riding a bike before).
At least they're being healthy and eco-friendly? But some people really need to watch where they're biking.
