Today, the last person I invited to my birthday party called and said they couldn't come because another party "came up" and they "hope I understand". It's on December 31st. This happens every year without fail. FML

Today, I sent out a note to 300 friends saying that I'm having a birthday party in a couple of weeks. I asked to please write back if they are interested in coming. Two people replied. They said they can't make it. FML

Today, it's been weeks since I made a Facebook page to arrange something for my birthday as no one was able to attend last year on short notice. Everyone was game but now everyone is flaking. One friend even said, "I'll see who RSVPs and then decide." FML

Today, I'd planned a surprise party for my best friend's birthday. However, she apparently found out about it and told me at the last minute she couldn't make it, probably to avoid being the center of attention. I'd already invited all of our mutual friends, so I had to awkwardly cancel the party. FML

Today, I'd organized a small dinner with immediate family for my birthday. I’ve since received texts from every one of them, cancelling due to varying reasons. My parents excuse is the funniest - they went out last night for a coworker’s party, and don’t want to go out again tonight. For me. Their child. FML

Today, I was invited to a party. Since I rarely get invited to any, I was super pumped. Both my parents work late, so I texted a couple of people to see if I could catch a ride. It turned out everyone's cars were full. I ended up missing one of the only parties I've ever been invited to. FML

Why not have a birthday party that is themed as a new years eve party. Just combine the two, and then maybe more people will show up. Just have a birthday cake and lots of alcohol. Or have your birthday party a week before new years eve.

If it happens every year, why do you keep putting yourself through that? Have the party some other time. I don't believe there's a law saying you have to have your birthday party on your birthday.

I too was born on Dec 31st. You are doing it on purpose, feeling sorry for yourself and all. Just go out, and once you are out with your friends, you tell everyone its your birthday. Then its FREE DRINKS for the rest of the night, after the drinks, someone to kiss at midnight should be just about guaranteed! Or how about, pick any day of the year, change all your profiles to reflect that day of the year. Otherwise get the F over it.
