Most likely he got trashed and hit a shotgun shell with an ax, causing it to go off which probably hit him, and that explains why he's in the ER.

Doubt it. A shotgun shell can't really go off unless it's in the chamber of a gun, otherwise only the primer will ignite. It's possible that the primer exploding caused some dirt or something to fly into his eye but unless the shell was chambered in a gun, I'm not sure how else it could have hurt him.

55 is right. Without a barrel, a shotgun shell (or any round) won't have enough compression to burn all the powder and the round won't have much power. My guess is the boyfriend hit the primer on the shell with the axe while his foot was in front of it.

Agreed, glad he's ok but it's really stupid none the less. Hopefully he doesn't decide to film this stuff for youtube. Kinda saddened at the reaction of boys will be boys after it resulted in an ER visit and it gets sadder the older the person is involved.

He got drunk, hit a shell with the axe and because he's a dumb ass he freaked out when the shell popped and dropped the axe on his leg. At least that's what he told me. I believe it was probably alot more idiotic but I wasn't there.
