Your future is important and you should think about it. However, don't let it consume you. Enjoy being a student while it lasts. The counselor may be right but should have left that comment unspoken. Current interests come and go with students. The counselor should have continued the discussion looking for the students passion (if one exists) and underlying strengths and skills within realistic capabilities. The common advice constantly telling kids they can be anything is not realistic. How many kids in an average class have what it takes to become an astronaut? Not that many. At some point (high school) students need to understand the reality of arming themselves with a marketable education and some skills in order to make it on their own. Then develop a plan that leads to acquiring that education and experience. A counselor should help the student discover their interests, strengths and skills and point out potential paths. My advice is to consider what I wrote and find a counselor who is not tired, worn out and sick of students yet and try again.
Tell your principal. She could DEFINITELY get fired for that.
your counselor should be fired for that. you can never tell that to a student, however it is called an ASTRONOMER not an astrologist
A career in making horoscopes and useless predictions! Smarty pants.
Seeing as you don't know the difference between astrology and astronomy, I think she may have a point there.
Well it shows because you're thinking of astronomy not astrology..
Okay this is probably the funniest FML I've read in a while!
Aha what a great counselor, shes amazing at her job; NOT!
What if they actually want to be an astrologist and they didn't mess up? O.o

Your counselor probably had a point. If you were interested in space you would want to be an astronomer, not an astrologist.
Oh my god, that's horrible.
