Awful line of inquiry

Today, I was hanging out with my boyfriend. Everything seemed to be going well, when all of a sudden he turned to look at me with a pensive and thoughtful expression. I expected him to say something important, but instead he just said, "I was wondering, how does it feel to be fat?" FML

That's called empathy. A very rare quality! You're lucky to have him.

I don't normally play devil's advocate, but what if OP's BF wasn't calling her fat and was just asking a random question? I could ask my guy, "What does it feel like to be famous?" We both know he's not.

This doesn't mean that you are fat, he could SERIOUSLY want to know what it is like to be a morbidly obese person.

he was probably just trying to help sweetie in a nice way. Being fat is a choice and you CAN choose to be skinny there is no such thing as fat sickness or a gland problem those are excuses to make people feel better and it only ends up hurting them.

There are health issues that can cause a person to gain weight and have trouble losing it such as hypothyroidism. Medicine can be taken to improve that situation. There are also some meds that can cause weight issues even though it's taken for something unrelated.

well maybe you are fat you can change lose weight and maybe you can get him back

Shoot back how does it feel to be small?

Maybe you should talk to him about it. Have a conversation about how his question made you feel and if you are overweight and it bothers you that he asked, maybe you should work on it.

As insensitive as it sounds, if the boyfriend was directing this towards OP,and OP is actually over weight, then he was simply pondering the thought and wanting her input. He just didn't ask politely... If your weight bothers you OP, do something about it. If it doesn't, then own up to it and be proud of who you are.
